- Buy a box of onion soup mix
- Make the onion soup mix as per the recipe on the box (add your own onion, if you like)
- Divide the soup up into oven-safe bowls
- Add croutons or a slice of bread to the top of the soup
- Sprinkle grated cheese (preferably pizza mozzarella) on top
- Place in oven on "broil" until cheese is melted and golden brown
- Enjoy!
Perhaps chefs in fancy restaurants make the broth themselves... and perhaps some people make their own croutons or bake their own bread. Perhaps even some people own cows and make their own cheese. Unless this is the case, preparing a bowl of french onion soup is easy-peasy and really doesn't take a lot of time. (Seriously, you just put the soup mix in boiling water for five minutes!)
