Mexico's Drug War

I watched a documentary yesterday entitled This World: Mexico's Drug War by BBC and it got me thinking...  How terrifying is it to live in a part of the world where nearly everyone is succumb to the power of Mexico's most successful drug cartel leader?  This documentary exposes how Joaquin Chapo Guzman is ranked as one of the world's most richest and powerful men, his lifestyle is admired through songs and stories, yet he is responsible for the deaths of more than 7000 people during 2009, and so many more since then!

Sometimes you can't help but think, "Why can't this operation get shut down of it's causing so many tragic deaths?"  Sadly enough, there are too many "good" people involved in the bad.  One part of the documentary interviews the Mayor as he explains he had to fire an entire crew of police officers because they were involved with trafficking to the United States, the consumers of the drugs originating from Joaquin Chapo Guzman's cartel.  Hopefully the overturn in the law enforcement will help improve the situation.

As I had mentioned, America is playing a big role in this mess.  These drug wars are to do with smuggling routes into America, it's all about supply and demand.  If there is no need for the product to be crossing the boarder, Mexico loses it's biggest client and eventually dealers are forced to get real jobs that will not bring death and destruction across their nation.  It's something to think about...

Anyway, I encourage you to watch this documentary and educate yourself on the problems of our world.

I have always had an interest in the blogging world, however I have never successful followed through with one. Perhaps the issue hasn't been my inability to write about things happening around me but more so that I continue to find myself in a niche, only allowing myself to post about quotes or something. This blog is my attempt to remove any form of niche: Blog Salad - pretty much everything in the cupboards and refrigerator..
